On January 27 the ERA Coalition and partner organizations will rally to have true equality added to the Constitution once and for all!
The ERA was officially ratified by the 38th state on January 27, 2020. The Equal Rights Amendment has now met the standard in Article V of the Constitution that an amendment is “valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states.”
We are now requesting the U.S. Archivist publish the amendment according to its section 3: “This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification,” and also asking Congress to remove the time limit that is in the ERA’s introduction. (The House has already voted twice to do so; the Senate has yet to take action on its resolution, SJ Res 1.)
To mark the two year anniversary of the ratification of the ERA and a more equal future, we are raising our voices in support of the 28th Amendment.
